In 1994, RETECON purchased the company GILDEMEISTER SA (PTY) LTD. and thereby the representation in South Africa of leading German machine tool manufacturer, DECKEL, MAHO and GILDEMEISTER. The company was renamed DECKEL GILDEMEISTER (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd. and operated under the trading name of DMG SA until the end of February 2009, whereafter the company was incorporated into RETECON (PTY) LTD.

Both companies, DECKEL and MAHO established themselves as leading universal milling machine manufacturers specializing in tool room equipment until at a later date they moved on and started producing production milling and boring machines. They combined their efforts and today they are a leading manufacturer of CNC controlled milling machines for universal use as well as production purposes.

In the field of 5 axis simultaneous machining in the mould and die industry their range of machines are impressive in every respect. A large number of these machines have found their way into the South African market and produce some high-tech components for our customers.

GILDEMEISTER has always been one of the leading manufacturers of CNC lathes and have extended their range of products from single spindle machines to multitasking, twin-spindle machines, as well as multi-spindle machines and multi-slide high production machines for smaller components.
